SMA Islam Al Azhar 3 is based on Islamic religion that aims to create a moderate Islamic education that shows respect, diversity, and peace for better societies.
Mission
We believe in developing global citizens rooted in the Islamic values and provide Islamic and innovative inquiry based conceptual education to enhance students’ faith, Islamic values, understandings, integrity, local value wisdom, and International mindedness, to become the agents of change, and to make significant contributions.
The Diploma Programme Curriculum
The Diploma Programme is made up of six subject groups and the DP core subjects, which includes Theory of knowledge (TOK), extended essay, and creativity, activity, service (CAS).
The six subject groups include:
- Studies in language and literature
- Language acquisition
- Individuals and societies
- Sciences
- Mathematics
- The arts
The three core subjects:
- TOK reflects on the nature of knowledge, and on how we know what we claim to know
- Extended essay is an independent, self-directed piece of research, finishing with a 4,000-word paper.
- CAS involves students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies.
More about the curriculum
IBDP students are required to take three SL (Standard Level) subjects with 150 teaching hours and three (maximum of four) HL (Higher Level) subjects with 240 teaching hours. The difference is that HL subjects provide a more comprehensive learning experience and assessments.
Islamic values
To implement Islamic values, SMA Islam Al Azhar 3 designs AQUBA (Agama, Al Qur’an, dan Bahasa Arab) subject focusing on contemporary local and global issues from Islam perspective. This subject aims to improve students’ faith and understanding based on the Qur’an and the hadith.
